The National Monument of Malaysia was built to give recognition and honor to those who died in the fight for freedom and peace, especially during the country’s plight against the threat of communism. Surrounding the monument is one of the world’s largest freestanding bronze sculptures by Felix de Weldon, who was also behind Washington DC’s famous Iwo Jima monument.
