Participants from both private and public sectors joined a three-day study visit at the Naga City Hall in Camarines Sur.

The NAGA Study Visit was organized by the Galing Pook Foundation to highlight the city’s best practices on good governance, a legacy by the late Sec. Jesse Robredo who served the city as mayor for 19 years prior to his appointment as Interior and Local Government secretary under President Aquino’s administration.

According to Lorenzo Ubalde, Program Officer of the Galing Pook Foundation, the three-day event hopes to expose young leaders to different best practices on good governance through seminars and workshops.

The former mayor through his people empowerment programs such as the “Youth Month Program”, where the city government of Naga exposes young leaders to the challenges of urban governance, had also been a recipient of the Galing Pook award in 2007.

Recently, the Galing Pook Foundation has named an award to the late Interior and Local Government Secretary as tribute to his exemplary leadership. The former Sarangani Governor Rene Miguel Domiquez was conferred the first Jesse Robredo Leadership Award after transforming Sarangani from a 4th class graft-ridden and conflict-torn province into a second-class peaceful and multi-awarded locality.
