President Benigno S. Aquino III witnessed the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Incorporated (FFCCCII) and the Provincial Government of Leyte that focuses on the construction of 500 houses and five units of barrio schools in Palo, Leyte to benefit those affected by super typhoon Yolanda.
President Aquino expressed his admiration to the FFCCCII for giving their helping hands during the aftermath of Yolanda, saying that what they have done showed their compassion towards the Filipino people.
“Your actions and your willingness to respond in time of crisis have inspired in me the expectation that you will act with the same amount of solidarity, no matter what challenges lie ahead,” the President said.
Likewise, he reminded everyone of the bayanihan that emerged during the calamities that struck the nation. He said that in times of challenges, one must set aside personal interests and come together as one people.
“As long as each one of us remains active in the grand task of nation-building, and as long as we never forget to take strength from our benevolent God, who has seen us through all our hardships, then we can weather any storm,” President Aquino said.
