The Merlion Park, or simply Merlion, is one of Singapore’s pride, as it attracts many tourists from all over the world. No travel to Singapore is complete without having a glimpse of the renowned landmark — a creature with a head of a lion and a body of a fish.
The statue stands at 8.6 meters and weighs 70 tons. It was built at the mouth of the Singapore River and was opened to the public on September 15, 1972 by then Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew.
