October 26, 2023

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. engaged in discussions with key officials from the Private Sector Advisory Council (PSAC) for their recommendations on the country’s infrastructure development plans at the State Dining Room in Malacañan Palace.

The meeting agenda included presentations from the Council members, focusing on several issues and recommendations related to manufacturing, energy and water, among other relevant topics.

On manufacturing, the Council sought the government’s support to give preference and priority to building materials, particularly on the cement industry, manufactured in the Philippines for use in government construction projects that are estimated to account for 30% to 40% of the total domestic consumption.

Meanwhile, the Council presented action plans to address energy concerns, including regulatory reforms, transmission issues and other measures aimed at providing affordable energy for consumers.

Furthermore, they called for the government’s full support for multipurpose dam projects identified in several regions, emphasizing the need to streamline processes for water-related infrastructure projects.

This was the second PSAC infrastructure meeting presided over by the Chief Executive this year.
