Secretary Robert Borje of the Climate Change Commission (CCC) met representatives of the NDC Partnership at the sidelines of the 56th Session of the Subsidiary Bodies (SB 56) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) at the World Conference Center in Bonn, Germany on June 15, 2022.
 
During the meeting, potential areas of collaboration were identified, particularly on the next iteration of the NDC Partnership Plan and the development of the Philippines’ long-term climate change strategy.
 
Secretary Borje underlined the importance of continuing partnership towards accelerating transformation and delivery of results on the global climate change agenda.  
 
The NDC Partnership is a coalition of countries and institutions working together to mobilize support and achieve climate goals under the Paris Agreement while enhancing sustainable development
 
Secretary Borje was joined by Mr. Albert Magalang of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and the Mr. Julius Casabal of the National Economic and Development Authority.
 
From the NDC Partnership, present were Ms. Mariana Panuncio-Feldman, New Country Engagement Director, and Mr. Deo Gabinete, Regional Manager for Asia Pacific and Eastern Europe.
 
Secretary Borje led the Philippines’ participation to the SB56 together with Deputy Head of Delegation, National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Undersecretary Mercedita Sombilla, and representatives from the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Department of Energy (DOE), Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), and Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).
 
SB56 is the lead up to the 27th Session of the Conference of the Parties (COP27) to the, which is scheduled on November 6 to 18, 2022 in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.
