President Rodrigo Roa Duterte graced the Filipino community meeting at the Pulchra Resort in Da Nang City, Vietnam.
Around a hundred Filipinos from Da Nang, Vietnam’s third largest city, as well as in nearby areas, took a day off from work to attend the special gathering.
In his speech, the President talked about his participation in the 25th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders’ Meeting (AELM), including the keynote address he delivered at the APEC CEO Summit Session 7 entitled ‘Regional Economic Integration — Lessons Learnt from ASEAN.’
He discussed the positive and negative impacts brought about by globalization, saying the need to “strike a happy balance” between the elite and the poor through equality and sharing of benefits among the developed and less developed APEC Member Economies.
Likewise, he reiterated his commitment in fighting the illegal drug trade to protect the next generation of Filipinos.
President Duterte ended his speech by reminding his ‘kababayans’ that he is a government worker whose task is to protect the people and preserve the Republic of the Philippines.
