Grand Hyatt Hotel, Beijing
October 19, 2016
President Rodrigo Roa Duterte was warmly welcomed by hundreds of Filipinos at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Beijing during the second day of his state visit in China.
In his statement, President Duterte stressed that poor services and corruption are the prevailing problems in the Philippines. He encouraged Filipinos to assert their rights and should report government employees who refuse to render services unless given an extra fee, adding that erring employees will answer to him. He also informed the Filipino Community about the Hotline 8888 where individuals may call and complain a corrupt government employee.
The President reiterated his anti-corruption and anti-illegal drugs program—warning drug dealers of the irreversible effect illegal drugs will have on the next generation of Filipinos.
Presently, there are more than 2,000 Filipinos registered in the Philippine Embassy working in various professions such as teachers, musicians, students, company managers, IT professionals, media practitioners, hoteliers, engineers, accountants and doctors.
The Filipinos in China have expressed their support to the President in improving bilateral relations with China.
