Officials of Japan’s top nickel producer, Sumitomo Metal Mining Company Ltd. (SMMC), met with President Benigno S. Aquino III at the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo. They are Nobumasa Kemori, Chairman and Representative Director; Yoshiaki Nakazato, President and Representative Director; and Naoyuki Tsuchida, Director and Managing Executive Officer.

SMMC has two investments in the Philippines: the Coral Bay Nickel Project in Rio Tuba, Palawan that started in 2005 and the Taganito Nickel Project in Taganito, Surigao Del Norte which will commence full-scale production in 2014. The company donated ¥50M or around P21.4M for the victims of typhoon Yolanda.
