After the State Welcoming Ceremony, President Benigno S. Aquino III proceeded to the office of Malaysian Prime Minister Dato Sri Mohd Najib Bin Tun Hadji Abdul Razak and discussed the existing mutual ties between the two neighboring nations.
The President and the Prime Minister conversed on the areas of participation between the Philippines and Malaysia including the peace process, security, trade and investments, Islamic banking, as well as people-to-people exchange like skills enhancement for the citizens of both countries, during the expanded bilateral meeting.
Both leaders also witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding on education and a memorandum of agreement on cultural cooperation subsequently after the roundtable discussion among the Philippines and Malaysia officials. This was inked by Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario and Foreign Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman.
The meeting attendees from the Philippines side were composed of Cabinet Secretary Jose Rene Almendras, Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario, Trade and Industry Secretary Gregory Domingo, Finance Secretary Cesar Purisima, Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process Teresita Deles, Mindanao Development Authority Chairperson Luwalhati Antonino, Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Herminio Coloma, Jr. and Chief of Presidential Management Staff Julia Andrea Abad.
