Roxas City, Capiz
9 February 2016
Following the inauguration of the National Roads, President Benigno S. Aquino III met with the local officials and the community at the Capiz Gymnasium in Roxas City to urge them to continue treading the straight path of reform in the upcoming 2016 national election.
A known bailiwick of the Liberal Party (LP) standard-bearer Manuel Roxas, the visit had been timely as it also marks the first day of the election campaign.
In his message, the President reiterated the need to elect the next president who would continue the government reforms he had initiated. This includes the expanded Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) of which Igleceria “Lola Igs” Bulquerin is a recipient.
The 68-year old widow, who sells candlesticks at the cathedral to support her nine children and two abandoned grandchildren, testified how the program has sustained and improved their lives.
Also present onstage was the party’s vice-presidential candidate Leni G. Robredo and its senatorial line-up.
