President Benigno S. Aquino III presented a summary of the administration’s accomplishments in the province of Samar, when he met with the local leaders and residents of Calbayog City.
In his remarks, the President reported that in Samar alone, there are a total of 57,711 household beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), accounting to 96% of government’s target, and a total of 785,000 Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) members, belonging to the 93 million members nationwide.
For concrete projects, PhP 12.94 billion worth of infrastructure had materialized in the province from 2011 to 2016, including roads, bridges, ports, airports, school and government buildings, and health facilities, with an additional PhP 2.4 billion for flood control facilities.
Meanwhile, in support of the local agriculture, government has built farm-to-market roads costing PhP 435.46 million and irrigation systems amounting to PhP 2.32 billion.
At the end of his speech, the President reminded the 7,000 event participants to vote wisely for the leaders who will continue the “Daang Matuwid” drive of the administration. “Kayo ang magdedesisyon kung saan tayo tutungo,” he said.
Calbayog City is the third largest city in the Philippines in terms of land and water areas.
