President Benigno S. Aquino III addressed the Capiz local leaders and communities in an assembly at the Sigma Civic Center in Sigma, Capiz.

The President told the audience about the lined-up infrastructure and  agriculture projects for the province of Capiz including the expedited construction of Maayon Communal Irrigation Project Phase 2 which will provide 800 jobs to construction workers and benefit at least 834 farmers after its completion in April 2013. He also mentioned the start of Culasi Port backup area upgrade and the installation of new Passenger Terminal Building at the said port this year.

He also informed the Capizeňos on the huge potential of AgriTourism in Capiz because of their famous and abundant supply of “halaan,” a type of edible seashell. He said that Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez and Agriculture Secretary Proceso Alcala were already given instructions to study the possibilities of AgriTourism in the province.

President Aquino commended the local leaders of Capiz for servicing and leading their constituents towards “Tuwid na Daan.” He said that if the Capizeňos are convinced that their leaders’ performance led them in the right path then their names will be written in the peoples’ ballots in the upcoming 2013 elections.

“Buo naman po ang loob ko: tulad noong nakaraang halalan, muling ipapamalas ng mga Capizeno ang paninindigan nilang makiisa sa landas ng pagbabago. Tuluy-tuloy na po ito sa mga katuparan ng mga pinangarap ng sambayanang Pilipino,” he added.

The President was joined by Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas and Presidential Management Staff Chief Julia Abad.
