President Benigno S. Aquino III conveyed his gratitude for his years of service to the people of Camarines Sur and its local officials in a gathering of support for the Liberal Party (LP) candidates at the Plaza Quezon in the heart of Naga City, Camarines Sur.

President Aquino spoke about the rise of the Philippine economy under his administration which recorded an average growth of 6.7 percent during his years of service, an aggressive improvement that prompted the country’s nickname: Asia’s Rising Tiger.

He also discussed the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) in Camarines Sur, with 3,970 household beneficiaries in 2010 to 112,898 household beneficiaries at the end of his term, only a fraction of the 4.6 million total households whose lives were improved under the 4Ps of the Aquino administration.

His administration’s continued support for education was also discussed, with the President saying that a 66,000 classroom deficit at the beginning of his term was paid in full and more by 185,000 classrooms built before the end of his term, with 4,058 classrooms constructed in the province of Camarines Sur alone.

President Aquino also highlighted the province’s energy service that now supplies 100% of the province’s population, citing that 490 sitios were energized in order to achieve this milestone.

The President continued by discussing the administration’s efforts in giving free PhilHealth service to more Filipinos, now with 1.74 million members in Camarines Sur alone, a total of 93 million members in the Philippines.

The President also outlined the administration’s efforts in infrastructure projects such as the 18,000 kilometers of national roads paved and 107,000 lineal meters of bridges renovated, among other projects around the Philippines.
