“Lahat ng nagawa natin sa daang matuwid, hindi kayo pinabigatan ng dagdag na buwis para may mangyari. Ang ginawa natin, tinama natin ang pamamahala, na tinatawag na good governance,” President Benigno S. Aquino III reiterated during his meeting with the local leaders and community of Caloocan City.
As testament to good governance, the President noted several infrastructure projects in the city. These include the NLEX-SLEX Connector Road, NLEX Harbor Link-Segment 10, and North–South Railway Project North Line.
Meanwhile, the Camanava Flood Control Project that is undergoing its phase 1 has already helped mitigate flooding in the Caloocan-Malabon-Navotas area, which for 30 years has been a constant threat to the locality.
From 2011 to 2016, a total of PhP 3.16 billion infrastructure projects had been allotted to Caloocan City, twice the amount compared to the PhP 1.54 billion budget from 2001 to 2010.
On Health Facilities Enhancement Program, more than PhP 84 million was set aside to rehabilitate the city’s barangay health stations, urban health centers and hospitals, which includes the Caloocan City Medical Center.
In the meantime, PhilHealth beneficiaries in the city already reached 1.24 million out of 93 million beneficiaries nationwide, while 31,510 households, from the former’s meager 2,141 households in Caloocan, are now recipients of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).
According to the President, there are now 7.7 million individuals that crossed over the poverty line ushered by the 4Ps program.
“Maipagmamalaki po natin sa Daang Matuwid: hindi kami ni minsan nangurakot hindi gaya ng iba, hindi puro ‘ako, ako, ako’ ang bukambibig natin. Sa atin, ‘tayo’, tayo ang gumawa ng pagbabago at magtutuloy nito,” the President said.
