After leading a groundbreaking ceremony in Iloilo City, President Benigno S. Aquino III proceeded to the municipalities of Dumangas and Pavia to visit the people of Iloilo in a gathering with local leaders and the community.
The President updated the Ilonggos of the government’s projects and programs in agriculture, infrastructure, social services, and education that will directly benefit them and their province. Among these are the newly-launched Jalaur River Multipurpose Project, the improved Iloilo Circumferential Road or C-1, the upcoming construction of the P100 million Iloilo-Dumangas Coastal Road and the P66 million Aganan Bridge, the completion of the Metro Iloilo Radial Road, the widening of Jaro-Leganes Road, the construction of Parola Ferry Terminal and the broadening of Iloilo commercial port complex.
President Aquino informed them that out of the 3.8 million nationwide beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), more than 86,000 Ilonggo households are already enrolled and benefitting from 4Ps. He also mentioned the Sitio Electrification Program where almost 340 sitios in Iloilo were supplied with sustainable electricity.
He told the people that they are now reaping the fruits of his administration because the Ilonggos chose to trust the “Tuwid na Daan.” With this, President Aquino asked for their support in the coming May 2013 polls in order to attain continuous growth in the country.
“Kumpiyansa po akong sa pakikiisa ng mga Ilonggo at sambayanang Pilipino, tuluy-tuloy na tayo sa landas ng pag-asenso. Malinaw po: Kayo ang gumawa at patuloy na gumagawa ng pagbabago,” the President said in his statement in Dumangas.
