President Rodrigo Roa Duterte officiated the mass oath-taking of some newly elected government officials from different regions across the country in a ceremony held in Malacañan Palace.

In his message, the Chief Executive reiterated that in fulfilling their duties as elected public servants, the newly sworn government officials should ensure “to preserve the Republic of the Philippines and defend the people.”

President Duterte also offered his guidance to all local government officials present to collaborate with others who have a shared vision in achieving their goals for the development of their respective communities.

“I am more familiar with the challenges of local governance. My advice is you work with those who have the same vision of governance as you do so you will become effective and more efficient leaders,” he said.

“As you assume office, it becomes your highest duty to practice and uphold accountability and transparency in government and to ensure that graft and corruption will have no place in this administration,” he added.

Likewise, the newly elected officials consisting of governors, vice governors, mayors, vice mayors, councilors, and members of the House of Representatives were accompanied by their respective families during their oath-taking.
