President Benigno S. Aquino III, Chairman of the Liberal Party (LP), witnessed the mass oath-taking ceremony of 231 LP recruits, 12 of whom hold mayoral seats in the region.
In his message, President Aquino rallied the newly sworn in members to actively join him in advocating a corrupt-free government. He said that by joining the administrative party, they are offering their whole commitment in making the party’s idealisms realized.
“Pag inimbita kayo sa aming partido, sumama kayo dito, yun ang hinahanap natin. Pero kung sasama kayo dito para makilaro sa musical chairs, huwag na lang. Pero kung sumasama kayo dito dahil ayaw niyo ng kasalukuyang dinatnan natin, kung palagay niyo may nagbabago dito, magsama tayo,” the President said.
President Aquino also detailed some of the anomalous dealings he uncovered regarding a bridging contract with a foreign company which was arranged a day before the previous administration stepped down. He added that by strongly taking guard against corruption it ensures a generation free of problems that plagues the country today.
After his attendance, President Aquino inspected the Bacolod Silay Airport.
Joining the President during the ceremony were LP’s aspiring senatorial candidate Akbayan Representative Riza Hontiveros-Baraquel, LP President and Department of Trade and Industry Secretary Mar Roxas, Senator Franklin Drillon, and Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo.
