1 October 2012
President Benigno S. Aquino III formally announced the administration senate slate for the 2013 mid-term elections in a proclamation held at the historic Club Filipino in Greenhills, San Juan City.
Out of the initial list of 40 names, 12 candidates comprise the final senatorial ticket of the Liberal Party (LP)-led coalition with the Nacionalista Party (NP), Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC), Akbayan and Laban ng Demokratikong Pilipino (LDP).
They are former TV host and social entrepreneur Paolo Benigno “Bam” Aquino, former senators Ramon “Jun” Magsaysay, Jr. and Jamby Madrigal, Las Piñas Representative Cynthia Villar, Aurora Representative Edgardo “Sonny” Angara, former AKBAYAN representative Risa Hontiveros, Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) Chairman Grace Poe Llamanzares and incumbent senators Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel, Francis “Chiz” Escudero, Loren Legarda, Allan Peter “Compañero” Cayetano and Antonio “Sonny” Trillanes IV.
Apart from proclaiming the senatorial line up, President Aquino also witnessed the signing of coalition agreements among the heads and representatives of the aforementioned political parties.
