New MMDA Command and Control Center, Makati City
8 January 2014

President Benigno S. Aquino III graced the launching of the New Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Traffic Signal System and Command and Control Center held in Makati City.

In his speech, President Aquino mentioned that Phase 1 of the new system would upgrade the traffic signal facilities of 85 priority intersections including the new supplies and installation of 25 outdoor close circuit television (CCTV) cameras. The administration targets to accomplish Phase 3 by 2016.

The new MMDA Command and Control Center, on the other hand, houses faster communication technologies which can attend to at least 400 intersections in Manila.

Joining the President during the event are MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino and Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Rogelio Singson.
