President Rodrigo Roa Duterte led the launching of the Malasakit Programs for the Visayas as he visited the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) in Cebu City.

The President unveiled the marker of a Malasakit Center that would provide the poor Filipinos with access to government agencies including the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth), Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), and Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), as well as offer assistance in a one-stop-shop setting.

“This way, patients do not need to undergo the tedious and often repetitive processes of securing requirements and going from one agency to another,” President Duterte said.

He also pledged a PhP 50 million financial assistance for the upgrading of its hospital equipment to help improve services for the less fortunate.

Likewise, President Duterte witnessed a ceremonial turnover of computer units to the Department of Education that were donated by business process outsourcing (BPO) companies Tech Mahindra, Qualfon, and Accenture to be used by public schools in the Visayas region.

The Philippine National Police also received complete sets of digital radio communication system from Mr. Winnie Chan of the Gao Mei Group Limited.
