As a strong gesture of support to the new basic education program being spearheaded by the Department of Education (DepEd), President Benigno S. Aquino III led the launching of K to 12 Basic Education Program by unveiling the K to 12 curriculum for grade one and first year high school or grade seven. As the classes open this June for school year 2012-2013, the new curriculum will be implemented in all public elementary and secondary schools nationwide.

President Aquino said, with the new education program that aims to give quality education to every Filipino, the country is now on its way to achieving the progress for all. The K to 12 program of the government, he added, is a system which gives the students an adequate time to learn and show their abilities, competences and full potentials. According to DepEd, this scheme also meets the ten-point basic education reform agenda which was laid out when President Aquino assumed presidency in 2010.
