President Benigno S. Aquino III addressed the members of the Japanese Parliament during the Joint Session of the National Diet of Japan, where he was invited as the guest speaker.
In his speech, President Aquino said that he admires Japan’s culture and its current thrust towards gender equality. He added that the country welcomed the revitalization of Japan as a friend, enabling the Philippines to be the fastest growing market for Japanese tourists among the ASEAN member states.
The President sees the Filipinos in the Japanese people, saying that partnership with them will grow stronger because it is based not on mere practicality, but on shared values and mutual respect amongst equals.
Before ending his speech, the President wished for good health and success for the members of the House of Councillors and the House of Representatives.
