Known as one of the hangout places in Jerusalem, the Ben Yehuda Street — also known as the ‘midrechov’ which literally means ‘pedestrian street’ — is a pedestrian mall that extends between King George Street and Jaffa Road in downtown Jerusalem. From souvenir shops to restaurants, cafes, street musicians and performers, this central place attracts throng of tourists, foreign and local alike, everyday.
The place is named after Eliezer Ben-Yehuda, a Hebrew lexicographer and newspaper editor who was one of the people behind the revival of the Hebrew language in the modern era.
