Officially named Gereja Santa Maria Pelindung Diangkat Ke Surga or The Church of Our Lady of Assumption, the Jakarta Cathedral is a Roman Catholic Church where the seat of the Archbishop of Jakarta is situated.

The construction plan of the cathedral showed a cross that measured 60 meters long, 10 meters wide and five meters on the aisle. There is also a large stained glass of the symbol of Mother Mary, the Rozeta Rosa Mystica. Its present day structure, however, is different but is still majestically beautiful. The church has to undergo renovations and reconstructions due to damages caused by natural calamities.

Jakarta Cathedral also has a museum, housing two versions of the Latin missal read during the pre-Vatican II era, Pope John Paul II’s cups and chasuble, stamps, painting from banana trees, and the original cathedral pipe organ among others.
