President, Pilipinas.MM
Yangon, Myanmar
March 17, 2017
Olivia Ramos De Guzman is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) by profession and is the current President of Pilipinas.MM, the Filipino community in the Republic of the Union of Myanmar. Her work has brought her to many countries but it is in Myanmar that she has stayed the longest, running eight years now.
Ms. Olivia fondly recalled that she initially learned of the upcoming visit of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte from a taxi driver when he showed her a newspaper article announcing the trip. She said that the President is very popular among the common people of Myanmar as they perceive him to be a ‘strong’ and ‘decisive’ leader.
She also shared the important role that Pilipinas.MM performed in the Overseas Absentee Voting (OAV) held at the Embassy of the Philippines in Yangon during the May 2016 elections.
Together with more than 200 Filipinos who eagerly registered their participation in the upcoming Filipino community meeting with President Duterte, Ms. Olivia will be traveling for five hours from Yangon to the administrative capital of Nay Pyi Taw on March 19 (Sunday) to welcome the President in his first visit to Myanmar.
