Mr. Arturo P. Garcia or “Al” has been in the United States since 1997. He is a community organizer for People’s Community Organization for Reform and Empowerment (People’s CORE). He also acts as a National Coordinator for the Justice for Filipino American Veterans (JFAV) – an alliance of Filipino World War II veterans, widows, students and community advocates lobbying for veterans’ rights in the United States Congress, and for Alliance-Philippines – a progressive organization of Filipino-Americans.

Al is also a Board of Director of the Historic Filipinotown Neighborhood Council (HFNC) and served as a neighborhood council member for the Greater Echo Park Elysian Neighborhood Council (GEPENC) – District 5 for six years (2001-2007). He was elected for three terms, which is a counterpart of the local barangay council in Metro Manila.
