Ambassador Jose Eduardo Malaya III discussed the importance of President Benigno S. Aquino III’s participation in the 27th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit and Related Summits in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, including the impact of the Philippine leader’s intervention in the 26th ASEAN Summit last April regarding the South China Sea issue and reclamation activities in the disputed territories.

He also tackled the possible agendas that will be discussed in the upcoming Summit and the readiness of the ten Member States in this year’s ASEAN integration.

Likewise, Ambassador Malaya gave an update on bilateral ties between Malaysia and the Philippines, as well as the Embassy’s initiatives to further strengthen and expand relations. The profile of Filipinos working in Malaysia was also cited, highlighting their significant contributions to their host country.
