As a nurse leader, she makes every effort to advance healthcare in the Philippines, especially in empowering nurses.
“I want to… looking to improve nursing production and to help with the nursing shortage in the Philippines… I do know that he’s really trying to find solutions to the problem and he’s really tapping into subject matter experts to help problems solved,” she imparted, commending the leadership of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
She is actively engaging with the Healthcare Group of the President’s Private Sector Advisory Council (PSAC) in terms of finding solutions for the nursing shortage and production, as well as in increasing the quality of nurses.
Meanwhile, Mr. Felicito ‘Chito’ Desuasido is a seasoned bank executive and business owner with over 30 years of experience in senior-level management positions in various major banks all over the United States.
During the 2022 national elections, Mr. Desuasido was among the first few individuals in San Francisco who joined President Marcos Jr.’s call for unity. After the elections, their ‘BBM Uniteam’ became a non-profit organization called, ‘Samahan ng Mga Nagkakaisang Filipino’ (SMNF), which partners with the Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco to organize community events and other affairs.
“His coming here is not only a boost… For them, it’s a representation of the Filipinos as a race, has an impact in the community and to have him here, to have him present here, is a validation of that and we’re all happy because it’s a show of appreciation in his part too,” he emphasized.
“We believe in his call for unity and we know though that it is a very hard task to achieve… We firmly believe that PBBM is doing the right thing,” he added.
Finally, Mr. JR Calanoc is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Dynamico Space, a prominent co-working space, business acceleration and business incubator based in San Francisco’s Union Square.
As a Filipino-American wanting to give Filipino entrepreneurs a boost in the international market, he believes in the Administration’s thrust towards sustaining economic growth in the country. He vividly recalled his first encounter with the Chief Executive when he addressed the New York Stock Exchange Business Forum in September last year.
“When I heard that speech, I was convinced that this is the start of something. Not only was he saying the right things, he had a group of really intelligent people with him saying the right things as well. Sitting there as a Fil-Am, because I love the Philippines but I grew up here generally, sitting there, you have hopes and dreams that the Philippines is uplifted, we grow economically… we become more ‘sikat’ in the world for the amazing things that we do, so that initial speech really made me feel like that can be a reality,” he conveyed.
On a more personal note, he looks forward to President Marcos Jr. seeing the accomplishments of the Filipino-American community in San Francisco.
