Labor Attache II and Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) Head
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
November 6, 2016

Ms. Elizabeth Marie R. Estrada, Philippine Labor Attaché to Malaysia and chief of the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO), revealed that a big percentage of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Malaysia voted for then Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Roa Duterte as President during the May 2016 national elections. She believes that his assumption into office as the 16th President of the Philippines revived the Filipino workforce in Malaysia.

As the POLO head, Ms. Estrada also oversees the Migrant Workers and Other Filipinos Resource Center (MWOFRC), an office created to provide immediate measures to fast-track OFW case resolutions, as well as their recovery, repatriation, empowerment and reintegration.

With President Duterte’s forthcoming visit to Malaysia, she trusts that this will redound to the betterment of protective mechanisms for the Filipinos working abroad.
