Canteen Owner at Colegio Weberbauer, Lima, Peru
November 14, 2016
Cely Medina, who hailed her roots from Daet, Camarines Norte, is a proud canteen owner at the Colegio Weberbauer, an international school in Lima, Peru.
Having been married to a Peruvian working for the United Nations, Medina has been to different parts of the world. However, they decided to settle in Peru soon after her husband retired from work.
Now residing in Lima, Medina busies herself running her school canteen at the Colegio Weberbauer. She has also been helping the Philippine Honorary Consulate General in Lima, headed by Honorary Consul General Raul Diez Canseco-Terry, to improve the living conditions of imprisoned Filipinos in Peru.
In 2013, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) released a report that there were 37 Filipinos imprisoned in Peru. The numbers have now dwindled to four since the Bureau of Immigration (BI) implemented stricter policies for Filipinos going to Peru.
