Ambassador Lee Hiong Tan Wee is the current Ambassador of the Philippines to the Republic of Indonesia.

The Ambassador spoke of the current developments in the bilateral relation between the Philippines and Indonesia, which is about to celebrate its 70th year anniversary in 2019. The two nations have been good partners for peace and development, especially in combatting terrorism and promoting peace and order.

On the wake of the earthquake and typhoon that recently hit areas in the City of Palu in Central Sulawesi, Indonesia, the Government of the Philippines has deployed aircrafts and pledged financial assistance in aid of the affected communities, along with other disaster relief efforts and services.

Relative to the upcoming participation of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Leaders’ Gathering in Bali on the 11th of October, Ambassador Wee discussed that one of the key agenda that the Chief Executive shall convey in the gathering aside from peace and security concerns is the trade market in the Philippines, highlighting the possible revival of a flight route to and from Davao City in the Philippines and Manado City in North Sulawesi, Indonesia.

Furthermore, with President Duterte and Indonesian President Joko Widodo fostering great friendship, the envoy also cited a possible bilateral meeting between the two leaders.
