Embassy of the Philippines to the State of Qatar, Doha

Ambassador Alan L. Timbayan is the current Chief of Mission of the Philippines to the State of Qatar.
The Ambassador spoke of the successful endeavors of the Filipino community in Qatar, and how local residents appreciate their commitment in work. He also mentioned the anticipated reception of the Qatari government to President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s first visit to the state on April 14-16, 2017.
In strengthening the existing bilateral relations between the Philippines and Qatar, Ambassador Timbayan said that agreements are expected to be signed during the President’s meeting with the Qatari Emir, particularly in the fields of education, culture, and technical vocational skills, adding that the officials of the Qatari government is thrilled to meet the new Filipino President for the first time.
Ambassador Timbayan served as the country’s labor attaché in Riyadh from 1990 to 1994 and in Qatar, prior to the establishment of the Philippine Embassy in Doha. On September 2016, he was nominated by President Duterte to become the Philippine Ambassador to Qatar, his first posting as an ambassador. He began his tour of duty last March 2017.
