President Benigno S. Aquino III led the inspection of three bridges that will connect Barangays Sanga-Sanga and Lapid-Lapid in Bongao, Tawi-Tawi.

The area used to be a swampland that could only be crossed once a day using a motor boat. Today, because of the bridges, residents can cross anytime with ease.

President Aquino was accompanied by Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Rogelio “Babes” Singson, National Defense (DND) Secretary Voltaire Gazmin, Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Corazon “Dinky” Soliman, Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Mel Senen Sarmiento, Transportation and Communcations (DOTC) Secretary Joseph Emilio Abaya, Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) Chairperson Luwalhati Antonio, and Energy (DOE) OIC-Secretary Zenaida Monsada.
