President Rodrigo Roa Duterte led the inauguration of the first-ever Narvacan Farmers Market in the Municipality of Narvacan – considered as the largest public market in the Province of Ilocos Sur.

Speaking before the ceremonial program, President Duterte commended the local government unit (LGU) of Narvacan for the completion of the public market and underscored its importance of giving opportunities to the people in order to thrive in their businesses. Such an establishment, according to the President, served as a reminder of the government’s unwavering commitment in promoting the welfare of the Filipinos.

He also recognized the role of Filipino farmers and lauded their hard work and sacrifices in ensuring that food is sustainable for every family across the country. The said public market was created to serve as an avenue for local farmers in showcasing and distributing their produce and goods, as well as in attracting business development in the Municipality and its neighboring provinces.

With three (3) months remaining in his administration, the Chief Executive assured the public of his commitment in fulfilling his duties and vowed to create real, positive, and meaningful change in the Filipino society.

“As President, I will continue to fulfill my duties up to the last day of my term so I can leave a timeless legacy of responsive and inclusive governance to our country’s next generation of leaders,” he asserted.

Anchored on President Duterte’s flagship project Build, Build, Build Program, the Narvacan Farmers Market is situated within a commercial complex that promotes agritourism through hubs and spaces including parks, plazas, and multi-purpose structures that serve as centers of conferences, financial transactions, and socio-cultural gatherings.

Through this project, the local government hopes to revitalize the economy of the Municipality in order to achieve economic progress not just in the Province of Ilocos Sur but in the whole nation as well.
