Davao River Bridge, Davao City

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte led the inauguration of the newly widened Davao River Bridge at Carlos P. Garcia Highway in Davao City.

Located within the Davao City’s 1st Legislative District, the bridge was widened from two lanes to six lanes. It has a bridge length of 140 meters and approaches length of 87.384 meters.

With a total project cost of Php345 million, the widening project was completed last April 18, 2018

In the event, President Duterte and Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark Villar led the unveiling of the marker.

Following the unveiling of the marker, the President boarded in an open type pick-up for the inaugural drive through on the newly improved bridge.

“Today’s inauguration of the new and improved Davao River Bridge symbolizes this administration’s commitment to usher in an era of rapid infrastructure development,” he said,” President Duterte said in his speech.

President Duterte also thanked all the stakeholders and everyone involved for their efforts in ensuring the completion of the project. He mentioned that contributions will greatly benefit the people of Davao City and its surrounding areas, and that the successful implementation of this project gave him the confidence to achieve even greater feats in the years ahead.

The bridge could cater large number of vehicles for better opportunities in tourism and economic development of the City. It is also expected that the newly widened bridge would alleviate the traffic congestion along busy road sections of Davao City Diversion Road and Ma-a Road.

DPWH XI Regional Director Allan Borromeo, 3rd District Councilor Antoinette Castrodes, DPWH officials and personnel, local government officials, and project contractors attended the inauguration with the President.
