Taguig City

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte led the inauguration of the newly completed 1.48-kilometer Bonifacio Global City (BGC) to Ortigas Center Road Link Project in Taguig City.
The project is part of the flagship infrastructure project implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) as part of the Duterte Administration’s Build, Build, Build Program.
In his keynote speech, President Duterte marked this as another milestone in the government’s goal of achieving a safe, time-efficient and dignified travel among travellers in Metro Manila and its surrounding areas. He noted that this development is also vital as the country is gradually recovering from the economic impacts of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
“Indeed, this achievement will provide substantial and long-lasting benefits to various businesses, motorists and ordinary Filipino. With less than a year left in my term, we cannot afford to waste time and resources as we fulfill our promise of better and more responsive public works across the country,” the President stressed.
He praised the DPWH for a job well done, underscoring that the hard work and dedication shown by the Department to strongly connect the nation is truly noteworthy.
Likewise, the Chief Executive assured the Filipino public of his administration’s undying commitment to secure a stronger and more progressive nation.
“Let me assure you of my administration’s unrelenting commitment to pursue a more comfortable life for every Filipino through safe and reliable infrastructure that will improve mobility and productivity,” the President promised.
The BGC-Ortigas Center Road Link Project will benefit motorists between the business districts of BGC and Ortigas Center, and is expected to reduce travel time to 12 minutes. It is also projected to help decongest traffic volume in Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) and C-5 Road by 20 percent.
On 12 June 2021, Phase 1 of the road link project known as the ‘Kalayaan Bridge’ was opened to the public and is now connecting Barangay Sta. Monica in Pasig City and Kalayaan Avenue in Makati City.
