After inspecting a rice processing facility in Bago City, President Benigno S. Aquino III proceeded to the inauguration of the Negros First Cyber Centre (NFCC) in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental.
The President led the unveiling of the building’s project marker along with Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Gregory Domingo, Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Manuel “Mar” Roxas II, Transportation and Communications (DOTC) Secretary Joseph Emilio “Jun” Abaya, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Director General Joel Villanueva, Health (DOH) Secretary Janette Garin, and Communications (PCOO) Secretary Herminio “Sonny” Coloma.
In his speech, President Aquino expressed his optimism in the opening of NFCC in Bacolod City since it would not just add profit for the province, but would also create more jobs for the people of Negros Occidental.
“Ang inaasahang kikitain ng Cyber Center na 90 milyong piso sa renta kada taon, diretso sa pamahalaan ng inyong probinsiya. Ang hatid pa nito sa inyo: 6,000 direct jobs at 20,000 indirect jobs sa loob ng susunod na dalawang taon,” the President said.
NFCC houses a wide variety of Information Technology and Business Process Management (IT-BPM) facilities in the two-hectare Cyber Centre which includes a space for start-up IT companies. Meanwhile, for those who are interested to study and hone their IT-BPM skills, there is also a Technology Business Incubation Center, research and development facility, and creative process studio.
