President Benigno S. Aquino III led the dedication rights on unveiling the marker of the Cory Aquino Democratic Space inside the De La Salle University (DLSU) campus during the inauguration of Henry Sy Sr. Hall.

In honor of the late President Corazon Aquino, La Salle dedicated a space on the university grounds to commemorate the legacy that the former president left in the country.

In his speech, President Aquino expressed his gratitude to the La Salle community for the efforts of remembering his mother. “My mother, during her life, seldom took pleasure from praise. But this patch of green, and the ideals it stands for, would have made her proud,” the President said. The democratic space, he added, provides a venue for every Lasallians to continue on practicing their rights to stand up for what they believe in. It embodies the righteousness, the bravery and will be a source of courage to those people who have and will set foot to it.

Moreover, President Aquino reminded every students of La Salle to continue the good work in the coming decades. “This is not just about finding your personal success, but also contributing to your community and to your country,” he said.
