United Nations (UN) Headquarters, New York
May 16, 2022
Delegates from the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), and National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) attended the Informal Multi-Stakeholder Hearing during the International Migration Review Forum (IMRF) 2022 at the United Nations (UN) Headquarters in New York.
The IMRF serves as a platform for UN Member States to discuss and share progress on the implementation of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration, also known as the Global Compact for Migration or GCM — an intergovernmentally negotiated UN agreement on managing international migration.
Since the adoption of the GCM, several countries have integrated the Global Compact’s objectives and guiding principles into their respective national planning and policies. The stakeholders play a significant role as they have been actively involved in all levels (local, national, regional and global), and their regional reviews contribute in addressing issues of common interest.
The one-day Informal Multi-Stakeholder Hearing provided a significant opportunity for all relevant stakeholders to engage in the implementation, follow-up and review of the GCM.
