President Rodrigo Roa Duterte visited eight wounded soldiers and awarded three of them for their valor at the Camp Siongco Station Hospital in Awang, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao.

The President awarded the Wounded Personnel Medal (WPM) to CPL Ronel Golez and PFC Edgar Gegone, Jr. for their efforts in an encounter against an unknown number of rebels in Midsayap, North Cotabato on August 14, 2016.

A third WPM was also awarded to PFC Amilhamda Dammang for his actions during a clash with an unknown number of Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) at Barangay Pamalian, Shariff Saydona, Mustapha, Maguindanao on July 28, 2016.

The Commander-in-Chief was accompanied by Special Assistant to the President Christopher Go and the Commanding General of the Philippine Army’s 6th Infantry Division, MGen. Edmundo Pangilinan.
