President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. called on the members of the House of Representatives (HOR) for the inclusion of housing interest support as part of the Congress’ regular appropriations for the succeeding years as means to provide affordable amortization to the beneficiaries of the Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino Housing (4PH) Program following the ceremonial groundbreaking of the Batasan TODA Housing Project in Batasan Hills, Quezon City.
Joined by Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar, House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte, Quezon City 2nd District Representative Ralph Tulfo and Ilocos Norte 1st District Representative Ferdinand Alexander Marcos III, the President underscored the importance of collaborative efforts between various stakeholders to address the country’s pressing housing woes.
“What we are witnessing today is only the beginning of one of the largest projects under the government’s flagship housing program. Slowly but surely, we will be able to achieve our greatest aspirations for the nation, including the dream for a decent and affordable housing for every Filipino family,” the President said in his keynote message.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to provide decent and affordable housing for Filipino families, President Marcos Jr. directed the DHSUD officials to strengthen partnerships with other government agencies and private sectors to secure the requirements for housing production and funding.
“Be it the officials, personnel, developers, construction groups, and private banks — your honest work and prompt compliance with documentary and legal requirements are needed to commence the funding and construction of housing units as originally planned,” the President said.
Under the Batasan Development Urban Renewal Master Plan, the project will see the completion of three (3) main sites: Batasan Road Development, NGC-West Controlled Economic Zone and the Manotoc Property. Included in the first phase of Batasan area’s redevelopment is the construction of two (2) 33-storey buildings with a total of 2,160 housing units planned to become both commercial and residential.
