President Benigno S. Aquino III conferred the Order of Sikatuna with the Rank of Datu, Katangiang Pilak, to outgoing Ambassador Luca Fornari of Italy in a farewell call in Malacañang.

The Italian Ambassador received the Grand Cross (Silver Distinction) from the President as recognition for his exceptional and meritorious services as the Italian Republic’s envoy to the Philippines, and for his contributions in strengthening the relations between the two countries.

Ambassador Fornari was commended for his active involvement in promoting Philippine investments and tourism, his assistance in the completion of various Memoranda of Understanding between the Philippine and Italian governments, and for coordinating with Philippine authorities to promote Philippine-Italian defense cooperation.
