President Rodrigo Roa Duterte received His Excellency Daniel Robert Pruce, outgoing Ambassador of the United Kingdom to the Philippines, during a farewell call held at the Music Room in Malacañan Palace.

This year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and the UK. As support to the country amid the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, the British Government donated 415,040 Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccines that arrived on 2 August 2021.

The shipment forms part of the first tranche of 9 million vaccines pledged by the UK that are being delivered globally on the same week to meet the urgent need for COVID-19 vaccines in Southeast Asia, the Caribbean and Africa.
