President Rodrigo Roa Duterte conveyed his heartfelt appreciation and good wishes to His Excellency Abdullah Al-Bussairy, outgoing Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Philippines, during a farewell call at the Malacañang Golf (MALAGO) Clubhouse in Malacañang Park, Manila.

President Duterte bestowed the Order of Sikatuna with the Rank of Datu (Grand Cross, Silver Distinction) to Ambassador Al-Bussairy for his significant role in deepening bilateral ties between the Philippines and Saudi Arabia. The Ambassador officially ended his six (6) years of diplomatic posting to the Philippines.

The Chief Executive also expressed his gratitude to Saudi Arabia’s government for lending its assistance to repatriate distressed overseas Filipinos in their country, as well as for offering to inoculate Filipinos with the COVID-19 vaccines for free amid the pandemic.
