President Rodrigo Roa Duterte conferred the Order of Sikatuna with the Rank of Grand Cross (Datu), Gold Distinction, to H.E. Jaroslav Olša, Jr., Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to the Philippines, in a farewell call at the Music Room of Malacañan Palace.

H.E. Olša assumed his post as Ambassador of the Czech Republic to the Philippines on July 2014. Aside from his diplomatic experience, he is also a prolific writer who authored various books and articles on history, culture and literature of Asia and Africa, as well as on the historical relations of the non-European countries with the Czech Republic, among others.

Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Undersecretary Ernesto Abella and DFA Office of European Affairs (OEA) Director Indhira Bañares joined the President during the call.

Likewise, Deputy Chief of Mission Jana Peterková and Trade Economic Counselor First Secretary Benjamin Žiga from the Embassy of the Czech Republic accompanied the outgoing envoy.
