Popular among tourists, the stretch of Asakusa – known as Nakamise (a shopping street) — is lined with stalls selling Edo-style trinkets and souvenir items.
Also located along the path of Asakusa’s district is the Sensoji Temple and the Kaminarimon Gate which is famous for its huge red lantern.
The Kaminarimon Gate is the symbol of Asakusa, believed to have been built for more than 1000 years. It is one of the two large gates leading to Sensoji Temple.
