“Through your efforts and sacrifices, we have made inroads in reducing poverty, in reducing hunger, and towards achieving upper-middle income status by 2025,” said President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. when he graced the 72nd anniversary celebration of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

Bearing the theme, ‘DSWD@72: Kaagapay sa Pagbangon, Katuwang sa Bawat Hamon’, this year’s celebration gives recognition to the DSWD workforce as champions of the Department’s brand of sincere and trusted public service, as well as the core strength of the institution in the performance of its mandate.

“I know this because I have witnessed you working long hours, making many sacrifices, and even risking life and limb to give our people the service that they need and that they deserve, especially the vulnerable and the disadvantaged,” the Chief Executive expressed in his keynote address, acknowledging the faithfulness to service and genuine love for the Filipino people of the DSWD employees.

During the program, he also led the inauguration of the Department’s new Multi-Purpose Building that will be used for the welfare and wellness program of the employees.

Constructed and donated by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), the said facility will also be used as processing area for those who will avail of the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) pending the construction of the Department’s Crisis Intervention Unit Building in order to provide safe and comfortable space for its clients.

President Marcos Jr. called on the DSWD to continue strengthening its social protection initiatives including the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), Unconditional Cash Transfer Program and Social Pension Program for Indigent Senior Citizens, as well as remain steadfast in its commitment towards ensuring that more Filipinos will be provided with quality service in the coming years.

“With you leading the charge in our government’s social programs, I am confident that we can build a more inclusive and compassionate society that truly cares and respects the life of every single Filipino,” he ended.
