President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. affirmed his Administration’s commitment to rehabilitate Antique as he oversaw the distribution of various government assistance to the victims of Tropical Storm ‘Paeng’ during his visit to the Province.
The President expressed his deepest gratitude to the Antiqueños’ unwavering support and vowed that his Administration will exert all efforts to help the Province towards full recovery and rehabilitation.
“Asahan po ninyo na lagi po kaming nandiyan kahit ‘di niyo po kami nakikita. Pagka mayroong ganitong bagyo at may mga naging biktima ay alam po namin ang mga pangyayari at ginagawa po namin lahat,” said President Marcos Jr. in his brief remarks.
Prior to the distribution of aid, the Chief Executive conducted an aerial inspection to assess the extent of damages brought by Paeng in the Province. He vowed to repair damaged roads and bridges so people could go back to their normal lives as quickly as possible.
“Kaya’t nandito po kami para tiyakin ‘yan at nag-ikot kami ng helicopter. Tiningnan namin kung ano ‘yung mga nasira, iyong mga tulay,” said President Marcos Jr. as he reassures the typhoon-hit individuals that government will always lend its assistance to victims of natural disasters.
According to a report by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region VI, more than 405,000 families in Western Visayas were affected by the recent calamity, with 46,000 families belonging to Antique.
More than a thousand beneficiaries that included farmers and small entrepreneurs flocked to receive financial aid, relief packages and other forms of assistance from national government agencies during the President’s visit.
