President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. oversaw the ongoing distribution of various government assistance to the residents of flood-affected towns in Pampanga at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center in San Fernando City.
In his brief remarks, the President underscored the importance of preemptive measures to mitigate the effects of climate change.
“Kailangan po talaga nating paghandaan itong climate change, ang pagbabago ng panahon na hindi sumusunod sa dati…Kaya po wala kaming ibang ginawa kundi gawin ang paghanda,” he said.
Based on latest report from the Provincial Government of Pampanga, about 66,939 relief aids have been distributed to the flood victims, in addition to the 30,000 relief packs distributed by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Likewise, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) provided 3,000 sacks of rice, 500 boxes of hygiene kits, 50 family storage boxes and 22 rolls of sackolines.
Furthermore, the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) released 5,000 food packs and 1,500 non-food packs for the flood victims.
